The Study of Evolution

The study of evolution is vast and your book takes four chapters to cover it, 5 if you include human evolution. Chpt 10 covers Evidence for Evolution, Chpt 11 covers Mechanisms of Evolution, Chpt 12 covers Adaptation and Species, and Chpt 13 covers The History of Life. We will begin this unit with p. 20-23 of Chpt 2 and then look at Chapter 13, which covers the earth's early history, the beginnings of life, and how life has unfolded in the fossil record. From there, we will look at how life can evolve, examining Lamarck's hypothesis and then Darwin's Theory of Natural Selection (Chpt 11 & 12), and the evidence for evolution (Chpt 10). Finally, we look at patterns of evolution and patterns of speciation (Chpt 12). Throughout this unit we will be viewing an Evolution series as it applies to our study.
